Roman Missal in Belarusian
On August 21 His Eminence Cardinal Kazimir Sviontek was handed an exemplar of the new edition of the “Roman Missal for the dioceses in Belarus” by representatives of the publishing house Pro Christo and the printing house Librarium.
This is the first historical edition of the Roman Missal in the Belarusian language as well as the first edition of the third redaction of the Roman Missal translated into national languages.
His Eminence Cardinal Kazimir Sviontek will present the exemplar of the Roman Missal to the Holy Father John Paul II in September of the current year.
Roman Missal is the main liturgical book for the celebration of the Eucharist. Text of the Roman Missal, translated into Belarusian by the Minsk-Mohylov Metropolitan Liturgical Commission, was approved and adapted for use in the diocese of Belarus by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Belarus on March 3, 2003. The Roman Missal for the dioceses of Belarus was confirmed by the Congregation of God’s Cult and Discipline of Sacraments (decision 1107/03/L dated August 6, 2003).
This issue is the only and obligatory one for the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Belarusian language both in Belarus and abroad.
